The Group carries out IT innovation, combining the potential of a full, integrated offer of Business Integration, Infrastructural Outsourcing and Cloud services (provided by 5 Data Centers), Consulting, customized proprietary solutions for vertical markets and technologically cross-market, such as geo-referencing and Open Source Business Intelligence solutions.

Engineering holds different responsibilities within the international research community, including technical and overall co-ordination of large research projects and consortia. In particular, the company is core partner of EIT ICT Labs in Italy (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) focused on leveraging ICT for Quality of Life; founding partner of the Future Internet PPP initiative; member of the Board of EOS (European Organization for Security); core partner of NESSI (Networked European Software and Service Initiative); founding partner of the Big Data Value Public Private Partnership (BDV cPPP). Engineering is an active member of most international open source communities and founder of SpagoWorld, a free/open source initiative managed by Engineering. Luca Bevilacqua
R&D
Luca Bevilacqua received his master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Naples, in June 1989, and his master’s degree in business administration from the Luigi Bocconi University in Milan, in December 1992.
He has been working in ICT R&D since January 1993, first in the Olivetti Group, then in the Sema Group, then in Atos Origin group and finally in the Engineering Ingegneria Informatica group. He covered all roles related to ICT research: technical roles as well as managerial, financial, and legal roles. Since January 2015 Luca is in charge of the “Tourism and Cultural Heritage” R&D lab in Engineering and is managing several R&D projects for an accrued budget in excess of 10 million €. Current Luca’s research interests span from mobile and social optimized fruition experiences to innovative media formats and crowdsensing.
Francesco Nucci
Director of Application Research
Francesco Nucci is Director of Application Research at Engineering - Ingegneria Informatica SpA. During his working activity he acquired more than 25 years of experience in management of research and technology-based innovation and coordinated many European and National R&D projects. He conducted innovation and industrial initiatives and served as member in international industrial boards and committees, he participated in many advisory groups of experts, in 2016 he is participating, as external expert in the Horizon2020 Interim Evaluation Expert Group. In the last years he was also involved in the Engineering activity in the Big Data Public and Private Partnership “Big Data Value”, where he has been appointed leader of the Task Force on Business.
At the beginning of his carrier he was actively involved in a collaboration with the Media Lab (Visual Language Workshop) of the M.I.T. Massachusetts Institute of Technology and participate in the M.I.T. Muse project (Multimedia System for Education). He enrolled some high-level professional courses at M.I.T., specifically an Executive Course in Management of Research, Development and Technology Based Innovation, at the Sloan Business School of M.I.T. in Boston and a Summer School in Linguistic and Cognitive Science from Cognitive Science Laboratory of the same university.
Vladimiro Scotto di Carlo
R&D
Vladimiro Scotto di Carlo received his master’s degree in physics from the University of Naples, in March 1998 (magna cum laude).
After having been working as astronomer for almost a year, Vladimiro started working ICT R&D since November 1999 in the Sema Group, then in Atos Origin group and finally in the Engineering Ingegneria Informatica group. He covered technical roles and managerial roles. Since January 2015 Vladimiro is the technical architect of the “Tourism and Cultural Heritage” R&D lab in Engineering, and is managing several R&D projects. Current Vladimiro’s research interests span from mobile and social optimized fruition experiences to recommender systems and crowdsensing.
